Hear The Art Murmur At Mad Anthony's

Art Murmur 2.0 will take place Nov. 4 from 5 to 9 p.m. in the back room at Mad Anthony's Lake City Taphouse, 113 E. Center St., Warsaw. Returning for 2.0 are Nicole Moore, Jeff Anderson, Justin Vining, Chad Fry and Jason Rowland. Guest artist will be Clint Roth from Fort Wayne.
Fry said the artists basically got together earlier this year because they were relatively new to the art scene and wanted to get their art out into the public.
"We had such a good time, we wanted to do it again and again," Fry said.
The original fivesome has become a sort of art collective, he said, but they are picking up new artists along the way.
"It's also nice to do it in a different venue," he said.
Since the Art Murmur is close to the holidays this time, organizer Michelle Engle-Rowland said they will also conduct a food drive Nov. 4. Visitors to the art show are asked to bring a non-perishable food item, though it's not required. All food items collected at the event will be given to Combined Community Services.
"I think it's good that when you have a group of people come together to do something, you also do something good for the community," said Jason Rowland.
There also are plans to have a photo booth at the Nov. 4 show, with photos taken by Lindsay Yoder.
For Art Murmur 2.0, Fry said he will bring in more of his work compared to the April show. His work will not be as much graphic design work as it will be screen printing and apparel.
"Chad's stuff is good," said Anderson. "He's kind of in the same boat as I in doing gig posters and having more stuff on canvas. He's really technical. It's not intended that way but that's just how he is, and not in a bad way."
Anderson will be having some new prints and poster prints. He's working on some work for his Goon Squad that will be available at the Nov. 4 show.
"Jeff's stuff to me is very impressive. I was drawn to his stuff through his gig posters," said Jason Rowland.
Seeing Anderson's paintings of his Goons and other work has given Rowland a new appreciation for Anderson's work, he said. Between Anderson's graphic design and paint brush work, Rowland said Anderson has his feet in both camps.
Rowland will have more of his stencil work at the show.
"I keep churning it out," he said. 'It'll be all new, nothing I've shown at past shows."
"Jason's stuff has always appealed to me as kind of Pop Art and that kind of stuff. He uses iconic images. What impresses me with him is how prolific he is. He leaves me in the dust," said Fry. "For this show, I think we will see brand new stuff we've never seen before."
Moore is working on a whole new series, Michelle Engle-Rowland said, which should be presented at Art Murmur 2.0.
"The cool thing with Nicole is, she always pushes herself and steps outside her comfort zone," she said.
Roth is an artist and musician, Fry said. Roth is a painter who works in acrylics or oils. Roth uses a lot of color and his work is pretty abstract. There's also lots of texture in his work.
"Texture and color is what stands out to me about Clint's work," said Fry.
Of Vining's work, Jason Rowland said, "His stuff is really familiar to where we're at in Indiana, but he does it in an abstract way. It's kind of whimsical."
Besides the art work, Fry said visitors also can grab some food and beverages at the restaurant.
"We're hoping on building and expanding (Art Murmur)," said Rowland. "We want to see how far we can take it."
Plans are to eventually take the show on the road to places like Fort Wayne and Indianapolis, but still maintain a presence in Kosciusko County.
"It's kind of like a roving show," Rowland said.[[In-content Ad]]Engle-Rowland said another Art Murmur show is being planned for December where art pieces may be more affordable for the average customer. With it being close to Christmas, she said they want people to be able to afford to buy and give some of the great work the artists have done. That show also will be at Mad Anthony's.
She said they appreciated all the help Mad Anthony's has provided, and especially the help of Jeff Neels, co-owner.
