Haunted Hospital Offers More Than A Shock

July 28, 2016 at 4:25 p.m.

Hospitals are supposed to first "do no harm," but if it's a haunted hospital... enter at your own risk!

For five scary nights this year, Dr. Buzzsaw's Haunted Hospital will take in patients - who may leave screaming in terror. It's a risk you'll want to take Oct. 17-18, 24-25 and 31. Hours are 7 to 11 p.m., except on Halloween night when hours are 8 p.m. to midnight.

The Haunted Hospital is in a new location this year, at 3144 U.S. 30E, about 1 mile past Hacienda, on the north side of the road.

Tickets to the PG-13 haunted hospital are $8 at the door, and $6 presale. Presale tickets may be purchased at the Baker Youth Clubs, Reinholt's Furniture or Crownover Jewelry. All proceeds benefit the Baker Youth Clubs.

Dr. Eugene Busclaw's bedside manner is questionable. His entire hospital staff is more than happy to show potential patients the full range of "treatments" the hospital offers. Some of the medical procedures are ... shall, we say ... alternative to accepted procedures!

According to the "legend," Dr. Eugene Busclaw was a brilliant minded medical researcher. In the early 1990s, Dr. Busclaw was able to mutate a cancer-ridden cell in a rat's body into a healthy cell. This molecular surgical mutation technique revolutionized the way cancer patients were treated in the United States and throughout the world. His treatments also cured many other ailments, including heart disease, kidney failure and any disease that attacks the human cell.

For 10 years, the story goes, Dr. Busclaw treated patients in his Northern Indiana Medical center. The results were miraculous. However, one night, a patient Dr. Busclaw had cured many years ago, in fact it was his first human success, arrived at his medical center.

What happened next is unclear and the cause for much speculation, but by the next morning, not a trace of either Dr. Busclaw or his patient were left in his office. All the files of patients - gone, research - gone, medical instrumentation used for his surgeries - gone. The only thing left was a large buzzsaw with remnants of unidentifiable mutated flesh, and blood that could not be identified as human by the most modern DNA testing.

When the tabloids got ahold of this story, they deemed Dr. Busclaw as Dr. Buzzsaw!

The search for Dr. Buzzsaw went on for years, stories indicate. Every now and again, a former patient of Dr. Buzzsaw's would disappear and all that would be left would be a bloody buzzsaw with mutated chunks of flesh. Unfortunately, the police, without Dr. Buzzsaw's files, could not identify his patients until it was too late. They were always one step too slow.

Just recently, the police recovered some old files that helped them identify Dr. Buzzsaw's former patients, but when they went looking for them, none of them were home. Family members told police that their loved one received some sort of notice that they needed to report immediately to a new medical center in order to receive follow up treatment for what Dr. Buzzsaw had done to them 13 years earlier.

Police are still searching for this medical center. They fear that it could be an enormous trap used to finish off all of Dr. Buzzsaw's former patients once and for all. So if you receive notice of a strange medical center requesting your presence, beware, it could be the last doctor visit you ever make.[[In-content Ad]]Those brave enough to tour the Haunted Hospital will find more than 40 rooms this year. Visitors to the hospital will walk through a maze from one room to the next. Strobe lights will help visitors see their way through, but watch out for what may pop out!

There's the waiting room, surgical prep room, disposal room and a maternity ward. Who screams more during delivery - the mother or the onlookers who see what she delivers?

Dr. Liver performs "organ" extraction. There are people in straight jackets in the psych ward, just dying to get out. Electric shock therapy is a malpractice Dr. Buzzsaw offers!

The hospital also has a kitchen that offers plenty of red meat.

Clowns fill the children's ward, but they won't be handing out balloons or suckers. Even the doll room is not for the faint at heart.

Then there's the pharmacy, gallows, guillotine and an unholy chapel. Need to stretch? The rack is available in the chiropractic department.

The hospital also offers minor surgery, like amputations, to major surgery, like people being cut in half.

And watch out for Dr. Buzzsaw - he will be everywhere! So the rumor goes.

If a patient "escapes" to the courtyard, be wary of the rats, snakes and corpses lining the trench. There's also a ghoulish graveyard and a crypt.

Dr. Buzzsaw could be waiting in the garage and warehouse, the toxic waste storage room or in the morgue. Funeral services will be offered for the dead, who may not stay dead.

And just when you think you're safe ... don't be so sure!

In order to witness all these treatment options, guests will have to wander through more than 1,000 feet of maze. You can check in any time you like, but there's no guarantee you will ever check out!

Fifty volunteers are needed each night to make the haunted hospital run smoothly. To volunteer, call Mark Bonifield's cell phone at 574-527-6434. Volunteers must be 18 years old or older.
