Harry Wayne Wolford, 61, of Pierceton, went to his final resting place at 5:25 p.m. June 15, 2009, in his residence, surrounded by family, after a long battle with cancer.

He was born Aug. 4, 1947, in Mishawaka, to Arthur G. Jr. and Nova M. Chamberlain Wolford. On Feb. 26, 2000, in Warsaw, he married Marcia Morrison Himes, who survives.

He was a Vietnam War veteran, serving from April 3, 1967, to March 8, 1969. He is a former member of the American Legion and Moose Lodge, Warsaw. He was a truck driver and plant worker at Warsaw Chemical, serving 31 years. He enjoyed fishing, racing, his computer and playing his games.

Surviving are five step-children: Vickey (and spouse Mitchell) Dulworth, Tennessee; Jean (and spouse Rocco) Spears and Albert Jr. (and spouse Angie) Himes, all of Pierceton; Virginia (and spouse Rod) Rogers, Texas; and Lisa Himes, Warsaw; a brother, Earl (and spouse Wilma) Wolford, Elkhart; a sister, Sharon (and spouse Phil) Stemes, Elkhart; 15 step-grandchildren; 12 step-great-grandchildren; his stepfather, Jay Kauffman; three nephews: Mike Stemes, Richard Wolford and David (and spouse Beth) Wolford; and two great-nieces, Magan Stemes and Emily Wolford. He was preceded in death by his parents.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at McHatton-Sadler Funeral Chapel, Warsaw, with Pastor Sam Carnes officiating. Burial will be in Hillcrest Cemetery, Pierceton, with military honors.

Calling is from 2 to 8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
