Harry E. Purcell Jr., 82, of Warren, and formerly of 2000 N. Bay Drive, Warsaw, died at 3:30 a.m. Oct. 25, 2007, in United Methodist Memorial Home, Warren.

He was born Aug. 4, 1925, in Newport, Ky., to Harry and Claribel Parker Purcell Sr. On July 28, 1948, he married Jean McGraw, who died Nov. 13, 1994. On Nov. 28, 1996, he married Betty Ellison, who died Aug. 10, 2004.

He lived in Rising Sun for 18 years and in Warsaw since 1972. He worked at Cincinnati Bell, then United Telephone of Indiana for 43 years, retiring April 1, 1989. He was a member of Warsaw Evangelical Presbyterian Church, Warsaw, a former member of Warsaw Rotary Club for 31 years; and a former Little League coach at Boggs Park.

Surviving are two daughters, Cynthia Stevens, Cincinnati, Ohio, and Cheryl Swanson, Mansfield, Ohio; three sons: David Purcell, Birmingham, Ala.; John Purcell, Warren; and Mike Purcell, Simpsonville, S.C.; a sister, Judy Grant, Fort Thomas, Ky.; two brothers, Richard and John Purcell, both of Cincinnati; eight grandchildren; and a great-grandchild. He was preceded in death by six brothers and sisters.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Monday at McHatton-Sadler Funeral Chapel, Warsaw, with Pastor Ron Horgan and Gus Sideris officiating. Burial will be in Oakwood Cemetery, Warsaw.

Calling is from 1 to 5 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.
