NORTH MANCHESTER – Harold Wayne Ross, 95, of North Manchester, died at 11:45 a.m. June 3, 2013, in Peabody Retirement Community, North Manchester.     
He was born April 9, 1918, in Sidney, to Elmer C. and Lizzie T. Tridle Ross. On June 30, 1950, he married  Mary Elizabeth Brandenburg, who died Oct. 14, 2007.
He was a member of Manchester Church of the Brethren. He graduated from Sidney High School in 1937. He worked as an aircraft assembler at Glenn L. Martin Aircraft factory, Baltimore, Md., for five years before entering the U.S. Air Force during World War II. After being honorably discharged he attended Embry Riddle Aircraft Mechanic School, Coral Gables, Fla., where he received his aircraft and power plant license. He then worked at Goshen Municipal Airport as an aircraft mechanic for two years, and later at Kennedy-Lucas Tire Co. for three years. He was a part-time mechanic at Servia Airport and later retired in 1988 after 25 years as maintenance supervisor at Manchester College. He held a private pilot’s license.
Surviving are two daughters, Linda D. (and spouse Earl) Amburgey, North Manchester, and Beth Ann (and spouse Bradley J.) Lucas, Fort Wayne; four grandchildren; a step-granddaughter; a great-grandchild; and two step-great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a brother and a sister.
Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at McKee Mortuary, North Manchester, with Pastor Kurt Borgmann officiating. Burial will be in Oaklawn Cemetery, North Manchester.
Calling is from 3 to 7 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
