NORTH MANCHESTER - Harold J. Michael, 89, of Mason Health and Rehab, Warsaw, and formerly of Sidney, died at 4:40 p.m. Feb. 20, 2008, in Kosciusko Community Hospital, Warsaw.

He was born Nov. 3, 1918, in Jackson Township, Kosciusko County, to Roy F. and Clara M. Metzger Michael. On Nov. 15, 1940, he married Pansy D. Plant, who died May 13, 2002.

He was a retired farmer and a World War II U.S. Navy veteran. He was a member of American Legion Post 253, North Webster.

Surviving are two daughters, Kathy (and spouse William) Greider, Cromwell, and Betsy (and spouse Rick) Zellers, Silver Lake; a sister, Marceline Russell, Pierceton; three grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a son, David Michael, who died in 2003; two brothers, Delbert and Donald Michael; and three sisters, Mildred McKee, and two infant sisters Opal and Marjorie Michael.

Services will be at noon Saturday at DeLaughter-McKee Mortuary, North Manchester, with Pastor Denny Bollenbacher officiating. Burial will be in Spring Creek Cemetery, Sidney.

Calling is two hours prior to the service Saturday at the funeral home.
