He was born May 3, 1939, in Warren, Ohio. His parents were Earl and Miriam Miller Campbell. On June 9, 1996, in the First Christian Church, Disciples of Christ, Auburn, he married Janet Baysinger Campbell, who survives.
He worked as a buyer at Guardian Industries in Auburn retiring in 2001.
He was a member of the First Christian Church, Disciples of Christ in Auburn and served as song leader for many years. He was also a member, past master and former secretary of the DeKalb Lodge 214 of Free and Accepted Masons. He was a member and sang in the choir of the Valley of Fort Wayne Ancient and Accepted Scottish Rite. He was a Worthy Patron of the Eastern Star of Warsaw and sang with Hillsdale Michigan Barbershop Choir.
He was an avid woodworker. He built many of the homes he lived in and remodelled several others helping and spending time with family and just being home on the lake.
Survivors are: two children and three stepchildren, Laura (and spouse Carl) Sowers, and Scott (and spouse Laura) Campbell, all of Warsaw; Beth Werling, Orlando, Fla.; Brad Slone, Fremont; and Brenda Slone, Noblesville; six grandchildren, five step-grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren, and a brother, Robert (and spouse Diane) Campbell, Mantiou Springs, Colo. He was preceded in death by his parents, and a stepdaughter, Linda Bennett.
Services are at 11 a.m. Friday at Feller and Clark Funeral Home, 1860 Center St., Auburn, with the Revs. Betty Sivis and Dr. Robert Craig officiating. A Masonic service will be held at 7:45 p.m. tonight at the funeral home. Burial is at 1:30 Friday in St. Peters First United Church of Christ Cemetery, Huntington.
Calling is today from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home.
