He was born Feb. 2, 1918, in Warsaw, to Russell and Mary Linn Drudge. On Sept. 8, 1949, in Whitley County, he married Lola Werstler, who survives.
He entered the U.S. Army Sept. 25, 1941, in Fort Benjamin Harrison. He was a rifle marksman; served as an automotive mechanic in Tunisia, Sicily, Naples and Rome; received EAME Theater Ribbon with four bronze stars; and was honorably discharged Oct. 5, 1945, in Camp Atterbury.
A lifetime Warsaw resident, he was superintendent of the former Warsaw Water Utilities for 29 years, retiring March 1, 1983. He was a 1936 graduate of Warsaw High School and a life member (64 years) of Warsaw American Legion Post 49.
Also surviving are a son, Gary Drudge, Warsaw; three daughters: Linda (and spouse Donald) Whitaker, Warsaw; Lana (and spouse Jay) Robinson, Tucson, Ariz.; and Nancy (and spouse Steve) Inskeep, Princeton, Ill.; six grandchildren: Angela (and spouse Chad) Gebert, Greenville, Ill.; Brian (and spouse Cari Jo) Whitaker, Winona Lake; Carrie (and spouse Jeremiah) Lotz, Claypool; Jordan and Kelby Inskeep, both of Princeton; and Dylan Whitaker, Warsaw; and four great-grandchildren, Carl, Chloe, Cassie and Breanna. He was preceded in death by a grandson, James Popenfoose, who died Dec. 26, 1996.
Services will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday at Titus Funeral Home, Warsaw, with the Rev. Paul Tinkel officiating. Burial will be in Oakwood Cemetery, Warsaw, with military graveside honors by Warsaw American Legion Post 49 and Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 1126. .
Calling is from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
