He was born Feb. 25, 1925, in Elkhart County, to Harold and Helen Grant Bartman. On April 13, 1946, he married Ruby Jeanette Zentz, who died Feb. 6, 2001.
A lifetime Nappanee and Syracuse resident, he retired from the RV industry and currently worked part-time at Maxwelton Golf Club, where he was a member. He was a World War II Navy veteran.
Surviving are a son, Joe (and spouse Marilyn) Bartman, Syracuse; a daughter, Kathryn Bartman, Milford; four grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; and three sisters, Betty (and spouse Leroy) Chokey, Nappanee, and Ruth Filley and Carmen Bickham, both of Rochester. He was preceded in death by a son, two daughters, two brothers and two sisters.
Services were at 10:30 a.m. today at Thompson-Lengacher & Yoder Funeral Home, Nappanee, with Pastor John French officiating. Burial was in South Union Cemetery with military graveside services by member of Nappanee American Legion.
