Hank's Tattoo Hosts Fundraiser For Woman Battling Cancer

The cancer has spread to her spine.
Although Rodgers has been through challenging times, she said it is her family who has been by her side every step of the way.
Rodgers, 38, a 1991 Warsaw Community High School graduate, was diagnosed with breast cancer in November, after discovering a lump in her breast.
The tumor in her breast was removed Dec. 22. A PET scan was conducted after the lump in her breast was removed that showed the cancer had spread to her spine.
Rodgers began her first radiation treatment Wednesday, and begins chemotherapy today. She will receive chemo for the next six months, every seven to 10 days, at Kosciusko County Cancer Care Center.
She will lose her hair from the chemo, but has already selected a wig for herself.
Hank's Tattoo, 3704 Lake City Highway, Warsaw, has planned a fundraiser Saturday from 9 a.m. to midnight to raise funds for a wig for Rodgers.
The fundraiser will be at Hank's Tattoo when all tattoo proceeds from the day will go to pay for the cost of the wig, and also cover her medical expenses.
The event is open to the community and includes food, a bake sale, raffles and bluegrass music.
Rodgers said she wanted a wig with real hair and shared the idea with her cousin, Janie Hernandez.
Hernandez discussed the fundraiser idea with her husband, Hank, who is owner of Hank's Tattoo, Warsaw.
Hank said his goal is to have a cancer benefit every other month titled "Working For Heaven In 2011".
Rodgers is the daughter of Bobby and Minnie Baldridge, Claypool, and has a fiance, Lamar Mount; two children, a daughter, Kendall, 16, and a son, Taylor, 14.
Rodgers said she is thankful for the fundraiser.
"It is overwhelming that people are stepping up to help purchase my wig and that brings tears to my eyes," Rodgers said.
Rodgers' parents described their daughter as a fighter.
"I hope one day there is a cure for cancer so we don't have to have fundraisers like these, but I am grateful for the community's support," Rodgers' mother, Minnie, said.
