Grover T. Whitaker
NORTH MANCHESTER – Grover T. Whitaker, 76, Pierceton, died at 9:20 p.m. Feb. 2, 2012, at Parkview Hospital in Fort Wayne. 
He was born April 19, 1935, in Floyd County, Ky., to the Rev. Reuben Sr. and Velia L. Jenkins Whitaker.
On April 2, 1982, he married Violet Baldwin, who died Nov. 21, 2000. On Aug. 7, 2009, he married Bonnie F. Hurd, who survives.
He was employed at Nickel Plate Rail Road, Dalton Foundry and retired from Gripco, South Whitley, in 1998. He was a member of the First Freewill Baptist Church of Kosciusko County, Claypool.
Also surviving are a daughter Debra (and spouse William F.) Bleeke, Fort Wayne; two brothers, Paul Whitaker, Florida; Charles Whitaker, Myrtle Beach, S.C.; four sisters: Bethel Bradford, Margaret Anderson, Hazel Bragg, all from Mooresville, N.C.; Fannie Smith Helton, Sidney; a granddaughter; 10 step-grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and one step-great-grandchild. He was preceded in death by a son and a grandson.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Monday at the Freewill Baptist Church of Kosciusko County, Claypool, with Pastor Terry Bradford officiating. Burial will be in Oaklawn Cemetery, North Manchester.
Calling is from 2 to 6 p.m. Sunday at McKee Mortuary, North Manchester.
