Samuel Roth, originally of Hudsonville, Mich., and currently a senior at Grace College, recently sat for the Actuarial Examination for Probability and has achieved the rare distinction of a perfect score of 10.[[In-content Ad]]The exam lasts three hours and is given by the Casualty Actuarial Society and the Society of Actuaries. It tests for knowledge of probability as well as practical application of that knowledge and the ability to respond to problems encountered in actuarial science, the science of risk-management. A score of 6 or higher is considered passing, and less than 50 percent of people who sit for the exam are able to pass.

Said Roth of his experience in college, "My Grace education has been high-quality in part because of the small school size; [my professors] have been free to train and challenge me beyond basic course content."

Roth is active on the Grace campus as a member of the cross country and track teams and plays flute for the Grace Wind Ensemble. He is scheduled to graduate from Grace in May with a bachelor's degree in math. Upon graduation, he plans to attend graduate school with the goal of attaining a doctorate and a career as a research mathematician.
