Grace Inks Four New Athletes

WINONA LAKE - Grace College recently signed a group of high school athletes to compete for the Lancers next year. The men's basketball team signed Columbia City teammates Matt Moore and Dave Richmond, along with Central Noble senior Ryan Bricker.

The women's tennis team signed Triton senior Heather Workman.

Matt Moore, Columbia City

Moore led Columbia City to a trip to the regional finals and an 18-6 record overall last year. He was a first team all-conference section in both his junior and senior seasons and led the team in assists as a senior and assists, steals and rebounds as a junior.

"Matt is a good point guard and could step right into the starting point guard role for us next year," Grace head coach Jim Kessler said.

Moore averaged 7.8 points and 4.4 assists last year and holds the school record for assists in one game with 14. He was a Nancy Rehm All-Star this year.

"Grace College is getting a fine, quality person in Matt Moore, which I know is very important to them," Columbia City head coach Chris Benedict said. "He represented our team in a first-class manner both on and off the court. Matt is a player with confidence, aggressiveness and ability, and I am sure that he will be a tremendous asset to the program at Grace."

Dave Richmond, Columbia City

Richmond, the son of Charlie and Lisa Richmond of Columbia City, will play basketball for Grace. He was an all-conference selection his senior year and was selected as a Nancy Rehm All-Star this year.

"Grace is getting a very versatile player in Richmond," Benedict said. "He is a good shooter, jumper and rebounder and doesn't make a lot of mistakes."

At 6-4, Richmond averaged 14.8 points and 6.8 rebounds last year. He holds the school records for field goal percentage in a game when he went 15-for-15 and also the best field goal percentage in a season (.614). His career field goal shooting is also tops at Columbia City at a .550 clip.

Ryan Bricker, Central Noble

Bricker averaged 18.0 points, 4.5 rebounds and 3.0 assists per game last year as Central Noble went 16-6. Bricker was an all-conference selection and was named News Sentinel All-Area following his junior and senior seasons. He was also the News Sun Evening Star Prep of the Year and the Herald Times All-State selection.

"Ryan studies the game of basketball and continually tries to get better," Central Noble head coach Paul Baker said. "We hate to lose Ryan, but he should fit in well at Grace."

Heather Workman, Triton

Workman, the daughter of Jerry and Karen Smith of Bremen, has signed a letter of intent to play tennis for Grace.

Workman played tennis four years at Triton and was named all-conference honorable mention after her junior year. [[In-content Ad]]
