NORTH MANCHESTER – Grace E. Smith, 91, of North Manchester, died at 7:25 a.m. May 29, 2013, in Timbercrest Healthcare Center, North Manchester.
She was born July 27, 1921, in Preble Co., Ohio, to William and Elizabeth Foutz Deaton. On May 5, 1945, she married Fred W. Smith, who died July 23, 1997.
She was a homemaker. She graduated from Monroe High School in 1938 and attended Bethany Bible School and Manchester College. She was a member of Gratis (Ohio) Church of the Brethren and attended Manchester Church of the Brethren, North Manchester.
Surviving are four sons: David (and spouse Barb) Smith, Las Vegas, Nev.; Lyle (and spouse YuLing) Smith, Qingdao, China; Kenneth (and spouse Robin) Smith, Ellendale, N.D.; and Neil (and spouse Anna) Bergstrom, Denver, Colo.; three daughters: Marilyn (and spouse Alan) Kieffaber, North Manchester; Lorita (and spouse Bob) Janas, Lino Lakes, Minn.; and Lucinda (and spouse Perry) Lawson, Denver, Colo.; a sister, Martha (and spouse Frank) Mason, Shelby County, Mo.; 16 grandchildren; two step-grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and a step-great-grandchild. She was preceded in death by three brothers, a sister and a grandson.
Graveside services will be at a later date in Cedaredge (Colo.) Cemetery.
