Grace Annabelle Pugh Mayer, Warsaw, passed away April 25, 2014, at Warsaw Meadows Care Center after six weeks of residence.
She was born to John W. and Mabel Lonas Pugh, and raised in Athens County in southeast Ohio. On Dec. 16, 1953, she married Bob Mayer, to whom she has been his loving wife for more than 60 years.
They resided in seven different states but lived in Warsaw for nearly 35 years.
She worked at the Warsaw YMCA for 15 years prior to retiring over three years ago. She played bridge several times each week with different groups in Warsaw and Plymouth, and she was an avid cook and baker, often baking over 100 dozen of many kinds of Christmas cookies each year. Other activities she enjoyed include crocheting, sewing, quilting, crafts, gardening, walking, traveling (they visited Spain, the Bahamas, took six Caribbean cruises and one Alaskan cruise, as well as taking many driving trips throughout the USA) and she was an avid reader.
Surviving are two daughters, Linda G. (and spouse Robert) Maher, Athens, Ohio, and Vicki D. (and spouse Joel) Casarrubias, Round Lake, Ill.; eight grandchildren: Matthew, Rory and Marilyn Maher; Rachel Domingo; Marc (and spouse Kyle) Annen; Lisa (and spouse Paul) Brockelhurst; Amy (and spouse Matt) Hans; and Tracy (and spouse Jordan) King; four great-grandchildren; and a brother, Paul (and spouse Karen) Pugh, Dowagiac, Mich. She was preceded in death by her parents and an older sister, Marjorie Watson.
There will be no services.
Calling is from 1 to 3 p.m. Saturday at Warsaw Evangelical Presbyterian Church, 210 S. High St. A similar visitation will be conducted in her hometown of Athens at a time and place which will be announced later.
