Govt. Direction

The nation is living with the consequences of some 35 years of misguided intentions brought to us by government at all levels. It made little difference who was behind the wheels of government, the direction didn’t change. While directing us on this path, government sought to bring us to a higher level of prosperity. Such a level, we now find, it could ill afford.

Major departments such as Defense, Education and Social Security were funded under the guise of peace, children and the needy. Financial institutions expanded their reaches while shysters preyed upon the riches of these moneyed markets. Manufacturing went from “the pride of America” to globalization. Phrases such as “in pursuit of peace,” “more money for education” and “too big to fail” earmarked us for being a nation in disbelief over debt.

Government continues to grow its influence as it represents over 40 percent of our economy and can’t let go. Thus, we find the “times of today.” In most cases, we, the people, find a greater logic in our own thinking than we find with our elected. Unfortunately, their ill logic impacts all of us.

Warsaw is no exception. A sensible approach to progress is challenged by growth in government and a retail expansion brought on by size not uniqueness in shopping. You find no less than four stores selling same item merchandise. Jobs become temporary and tenuous in the global markets of orthopedics while Warsaw’s history beckons for more creative small business. Warsaw needs businesses that can grow at “home” not overseas.

As a community we must place a greater value on our resources as a matter of need not want. Do we need what we want, or do we want what we need? And finally, as a community, we need to be to share in the voice of its future not the constraints of its politics.

Hopefully, Warsaw can exemplify what the nation needs to find, a better path to its future.
