GOP To Name Councilman To Fill Brian Woody's Seat

July 28, 2016 at 4:25 p.m.

SYRACUSE – The deadline for filing a candidacy for Syracuse Town Council Ward 4 passed Sunday and only one eligible person is seeking to fill the seat.
Larry Martindale, 71, of 311 N. Main St., Syracuse, may be elected at the Syracuse Republican caucus at 7 p.m. Wednesday, according to Kosciusko Republican Party Chairman Randall Girod.
If chosen, Martindale will replace Brian Woody, who resigned from the council at the end of its meeting May 17. Woody had served on the council for about 13 years.
In a telephone interview Monday afternoon, Martindale said, “I’ve lived here for 50 years and I want to do something for (Syracuse).”
He said he has been friends with Woody for many years.
“I just think someone needs to be interested” in serving on the council, he said.
While he admitted he doesn’t know the “ins and outs” of serving on the council yet, he sat on the zoning board for the last 10 years.
He retired from Dana Corporation after 28-1/2 years and has attended Milford Christian Church for 50 years, he said. He has three children and three grandchildren.[[In-content Ad]]
