Good, Ruppel Top Students At Manchester

NORTH MANCHESTER - Christopher Isaac Good was named valedictorian of Manchester High School for the Class of 1998, and Jodee Rachel Ruppel is salutatorian.

Good earned the honor with a grade point average of 10.978 on an 11.0 scale. He is active in school athletics, such as cross country, basketball and baseball. He also has helped coach youth basketball and community soccer teams.

Besides being valedictorian, Good was president of the National Honor Society this year, and was involved in student council, Junior Achievement consultant and Amnesty International.

Good's other honors and awards include the Academic Excellence award, the All A Honor Roll, DAR Good Citizen, NBA Sportsmanship Award, the "I Dare You" Leadership Award and Academic All-State.

He plans to attend Manchester College to major in political science. He is the son of Dave and Lois Good.

Jodee Ruppel, salutatorian, has a grade point average of 10.909 on an 11.0 scale. The president and district reporter for FFA, Ruppel is the vice president of student council and was the junior class president. She has been a member of LIFE, National Honor Society, Campus Life, French Club and is on the yearbook/newspaper staff. She also participated on the golf, basketball, volleyball and track teams.

A 10-year member of 4-H, Ruppel's honors include the 1998 Indiana Vocational Education Student, 1998 Indiana Shropshire Queen, Wendy's High School Heisman state finalist, Academic All-State in golf, "I Dare You" Leadership Award, delegate to Hoosier Girls' State, Purdue Junior Scholar in social studies and All-Academic TRC in golf and basketball.

The daughter of Bill and Miriam Ruppel, she plans to attend Purdue University and major in agriculture communications with a minor in political science. Her future plans include serving as a lobbyist or in a public relations position with the National FFA organization or an agricultural firm. She plans to be involved in politics and would like to own a small sheep farm. [[In-content Ad]]
