Life is a glorious opportunity, if it is used to condition us for eternity. If we fail in this, though we succeed in everything else, life will have been a failure.

Many today are searching for the perfect relationship, and heaven on earth. Yet when a relationship is accomplished and a wedding planned, even at great cost financially often, and the day comes with smiles and hopeful joy, too many are listed months later in the divorce column of the newspaper. So often is heard and read "My marriage isn't working our. We lost the romance." Again, we hear and read "He (or she) is so much kinder than my inconsiderate wife (or husband)," as another partner is sought and found. Adulterous affairs are reported and accepted blandly as the order of the day and time. Society shrugs and goes on its way. But does God? What is really happening?

The news of the day from all media seems so bad. We read of technological advances that astound. New handheld communication marvels have come. Aids of all kind come which promise to make life easier and faster. Sometimes the rapidity of advance in all areas, especially technologically, befuddle us.

Certainly, the pictures of reality of relationships being so grim and disappointing, and the technology races speeding on and on, it surely is true that technology has outrun our moral and spiritual equipment. Technology has no morals, and with no moral restraints men will destroy themselves and others in the race for pleasures and financial goals alone.

Only God can give a person moral restraints and spiritual strength. While our world is shaking and crumbly, we need to realize that one thing will never change, and that is God. See again what He did and does to change us, out of His love. The Bible book John 3:16, "God so loved the world (you and me) that He gave His only begotten Son (Jesus, the Cross, Death, and Resurrection} that you and I might not perish (in our and by our own sins), but have eternal life."

Sad, but true, even in our churches there is a need to challenge congregations to mend their ways, recapture the clear biblical notion of human sin, and the need to repent and accept God's grace.

But today, even the accusation that you have sinned, which had the power to jolt people, is received with a grin and sneer. In most all churches the uncomfortable topic of personal sin is avoided, or the words are heard, "We will leave and go elsewhere."

A recently read statement said, "It is odd, as we sit in one of the bloodiest and most corrupt centuries humanity has ever known, we talk about what good people we are. We seem to have a tremendous capacity for self-deception." Again, I see in the Bible, book of Galatians 6:7-8, "Be not deceived, God is not mocked: for whatsoever a man soweth, that shall he also reap ... He that soweth to the Spirit shall of the Spirit reap life everlasting." And II Peter 3:9, "The Lord is ... not willing that any shall perish, but that all shall come to repentance."

As a sinner, which I admit, I humbly accept God's gift of the Savior from sin, Jesus. He died for my sins on the cross, and arose again Easter, and lives for every person to know, accept and serve. This is life's glorious opportunity today and forever!
