Glenn R. “Spike” Martin, 87, of Columbia City, passed away at 8:51 a.m.  May 13, 2013, in his residence.
He was born March 25, 1926, in Etna, Whitley County, to Chester Edward and Nita Gertrude Keister Martin. On Dec. 30, 1949, he married Boneta “Bonnie” Vesta Coverstone, who survives.  
He lived his entire lifetime in Etna, Whitley County, and graduated from North Webster High School in 1944.
Together he and Bonnie spent 63 years in Etna. He worked at Weatherhead, Columbia City, as a set-up operater for 30 years, retiring in 1987. He was an avid Cubs baseball fan, I.U. basketball fan and farming was his life.  
Also surviving are two sons, Dale Leon (and spouse Alisa) Martin, Scottsburg, and Gary Wayne (and spouse Sherry) Martin, Columbia City; a daughter, Melodie Ann (and spouse Randy) Wolfe, Columbia City; 11 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; and a sister, Iva Jean (and spouse Jim) Knapp, Fort Wayne. He was preceded in death by his parents.
Services will be at 1 p.m. Friday at DeMoney-Grimes Countryside Park Funeral Home, 600 Countryside Drive, Columbia City, with Pastor Carroll McNutt officiating. Burial will be in Scott Cemetery, Kiester Addition, Columbia City.
Calling is from 1:30 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
