AKRON - Gladys M. Kroft, 98, who had lived with her daughter at Silver Lake, and formerly of Akron, died at 7:13 p.m. March 22, 2009, in the emergency room at Kosciusko Community Hospital, Warsaw.

She was born March 9, 1911, in Fulton County, to George and Bessie Kuhn Krieg. On Oct. 20, 1940, in Fort Wayne, she married Joseph A. Kroft, who died Nov. 18, 2003.

She was a homemaker and helped her husband on all areas of the farm. She was a 1929 Akron High School graduate. She was a member of Akron Church of the Brethren and attended Akron Church of God. She was involved with the Gideon's International. She was a member of Airstream Trailer Club for more than 20 years.

Surviving are a son, Kenton L. (and spouse Maggie Doran) Kroft, Rochester; three daughters: Joyce Paxton, Warsaw; Janet (and spouse Michael) Sells, Silver Lake; and Joann (and spouse Joel) Snyder, Pierceton; 11 grandchildren; four step-grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and 13 step-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a sister.

Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at Akron Church of the Brethren with the Revs. David Hendry and Terry Canfield officiating. Burial will be in Akron Cemetery.

Calling is from 4 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Hartzler Funeral Home, Akron.
