Gerard Is Just A Sheep

Edwin R. Murrow once said, "A nation of sheep will beget a government of wolves." It is amazing how right he was. If people believe what Gary Gerard wrote in Saturday's paper about PSE, you have basically told the government, "We are against the use of meth for whatever reason, and since we cannot solve the problem on our own, make it harder for all of us to get PSE products."
This Republic was set up to answer the question if man can govern himself. I have made it clear that your life is yours to live with as you see fit, and you should be free to do what you want with your life; as long as you do not violate any other person's life, liberty or justly acquired property.
Now I have to ask you, Mr. Gerard, why are you against pharmaceutical companies making profits? If you are, you are against the American Dream of being as successful as possible. Besides - what about lost wages for the workers, lost dividends for stockholders. Besides, cigarettes kill, no one is calling to ban those. Alcohol kills, and the ban of that failed. PSE is safe, and people demonize it because people process it.
Second, do you want to know why people want to buy the cold medicine with PSE, Mr. Gerard? It works - plain and simple, buy the non-PSE stuff, I can be sick for a week. I take the PSE; I'm back to normal in two days or less. Sorry, Mr. Gerard, I'll take 48 hours over seven days anytime.
And your idea of doctors just phoning in a prescription to a pharmacy for PSE is equally bogus. That idea may sound great, until the doctors realize how much more money they can make off the visits of their patients. A visit to a doctor is expensive as it is, even with insurance, why should I have to spend 50 bucks to get a $5 box of medicine? Lastly, Mr. Gerard, if the government is telling me that I have to get a doctor's OK before I can take a legal substance, that is an intrusion of my life. Where is the authority for the government to say tell me what I can or cannot put in my body in the privacy of my own home?
Mr. Woodward, I have to ask you something, did your son make his choices of his own free will? Did you teach him the importance of right and wrong and the consequences of his actions? You should stop blaming yourself for his actions. He did violate someone's liberty and property and should be punished for that - but ask yourself this, how many billions of dollars have been spent on the "War on Drugs," and are we any closer to winning that? Let's not forget the Wars on Poverty, Crime and Terror. If you actually believe that making PSE prescription only, you and Mr. Gerard are just partisan sheep that the government wolves will eat first.
