SYRACUSE – Geraldine H. “Gerrie” Smith, 95, of Syracuse, passed away Nov. 24, 2012, in her residence.
She was born Feb. 19, 1917, in Fort Wayne, to Robert T. and Evelyn Druitt Smith. She was preceded in death by her two husbands, Lester Brouwer and Orrin Smith.
She lived and worked in Fort Wayne while also living and raising her family in the Syracuse area. Upon retiring from The Wayne Township Assessors office in Allen County, she moved full time to Syracuse.
Surviving are three sons, Jay (and spouse Susan) Brouwer and Greg (and spouse Barb) Smith, all of Syracuse, and Rob (and spouse Connie) Smith, Rockford, Mich.; two daughters, Bonnie (and spouse Ken) Eddleblute, Kingman, Ariz., and Susie (and spouse Jim) Johnson, Round Rock, Texas; nine grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren. She also was preceded in death by a grandson, Will Laudick, and a sister, Irene Hensler.
A funeral mass will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at St. Martin dePorres Catholic Church, Syracuse. Burial will be in Syracuse Cemetery.
Calling is from 6 to 8 p.m. today at Eastlund Funeral Home, 7458 E. CR 1000N, Syracuse.
