He was born May 15, 1923, in Richland Center, to Ray D. and Mildred Eash Jones. On Sept. 16, 1954, in Ligonier, he married Mary Alice Long, who survives.
He was a U.S. Navy veteran, having served in World War II and Korea. In 1983, he retired as a train master from the Wabash Railroad, now the Norfolk Southern Railroad. He was also a train dispatcher. His memberships include First Christian Church, the LeRoy Shelton American Legion 36, Veterans of Foreign Wars 1343, Motor City Radio Club, Moslem Radio Club, Masonic Lodge and Shriners.
Also surviving are a daughter, Laura (and spouse Vance) Keller, Lake Okeechobee, Fla.; two sons, Howard Jones, Rochester, and John (and spouse Sharon) Jones, Trenton, Mich.; 12 grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and a sister, Sara Jean Harmon. He was preceded in death by a son, Thomas W. Jones, and a brother.
Services will be at 3 p.m. Sunday at Good Family Funeral Home, Rochester, with Pastor Mike VanHeyningen officiating. Burial will be in Rochester IOOF Cemetery with graveside military rites by members of Fulton County Veterans Honor Guard and the U.S. Navy Honor Guard.
Calling is from noon to 3 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.
