He was born April 10, 1930, in Warsaw, to Cecil Denney and Leona Konkle Trushel.
He was a U.S. Navy veteran who served his country during the Korean War from 1948-52. He was a retired maintenance supervisor at Monsanto, Ligonier, after 29 years. After he retired, he went back to work at Walmart, Kendallville, for about 10 years. He was a member of North Webster American Legion Post 253.
Surviving are two daughters, Krys Denney, Syracuse, and Robin Everhart, Cincinnati; a son, Dan (and spouse Barb) Denney, Hudson; two grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; two brothers, Al (and spouse Kathy) Denney, Fort Wayne, and Richard “Dick” Denney, Warsaw; and a sister, Mary (and spouse Chuck) Shilling, Peru. He was preceded in death by a great-grandchild, two sisters and a brother.
Services will be at 1 p.m. Friday at Hite Funeral Home, Kendallville. Burial will be at Corunna Cemetery, near Corunna, with military honors by honor guard members of the Rome City American Legion Post 381, the Kendallville Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 2749 and active duty U.S. Navy troops.
Calling is from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
