Gene W. Brown, 78, Saint Petersburg, Fla., and formerly of Warsaw, passed away at 6:12 a.m. on Nov. 7, 2014, at Miller’s Merry Manor, Warsaw. He was born Feb. 16, 1936, in Warsaw, to Dean L. and Alta Eileen Clase Brown. In 1956 he was married in McCordsville, Ind., to Beverly Anne Sink, who survives in Warsaw. He was a resident of Saint Petersburg and Kosciusko County for 18 years. He was a 1954 graduate of Warsaw High School, and a member of the Warsaw Tigers Football team. After graduation he attended Butler University and then Purdue University where he received his bachelor’s degree in engineering. He also received his master’s degree from Northwestern University. He was the CEO of Whittar Steel Strip in Detroit, Mich. In later years, after retirement, he enjoyed his family and playing some golf. He will be lovingly remembered by a son, Scott (and spouse Angela) Brown, Okemos, Mich.; three brothers: Densil (and spouse Peggy) Brown, Arlington Heights, Ill.; Sam (and spouse Karen) Brown, Warsaw; and Dail (and spouse Pam) Brown, Westerville, Ohio. He was preceded in death by his parents, and his daughter, Lisa. Services will be at 1 p.m. Monday at Redpath-Fruth Funeral Home, 225 Argonne Road, Warsaw, with Pastor Tom Hamilton officiating. Burial will follow with a graveside service at Oakwood Cemetery, Warsaw. Calling will be from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Monday at Redpath-Fruth Funeral Home. ***** Memorial donations may be directed to the Wounded Warrior Project, P.O.
