Gene L. Slone, 63, passed away at 10 p.m. Oct. 25, 2015, in Mason Health and Rehabilitation Center, Warsaw.
He was born Jan. 29, 1952, in Wabash, to Woodrow Slone and Vina Whitaker Cleveland.
He was a 1971 graduate of Warsaw Community High School and a lifetime Warsaw resident.
He was a roll tender for R.R. Donnelley and Sons for 30 years, retiring in 2000.
He was a charter member, trustee and past president of VFW 1126 Men’s Auxiliary; member of the Northern Hoosier Pool League; loved to ride his motorcycle; had a good sense of humor and never met a stranger.
Surviving are his companion, Denise Messer, Warsaw; a son, Brandon (and spouse Alicia) Slone, Akron; a daughter, Emily Ann Slone, Warsaw; a stepdaughter, Jerrica (and spouse Tyler) Marshall, Warsaw; a stepson, Logan (and spouse Amanda) Messer, Milford; four grandchildren; three sisters, Brozie Elliott, Alvalee Engle and Jane Carroll, all of Warsaw; and a brother, Larry (and spouse Teresa) Slone, South Whitley. He was preceded in death by his parents; his stepfather, Clayton Cleveland; a brother, James Slone, who died March 23, 2007, and a sister, Vonda Smith, who died March 1, 2003.
Services will be at 1 p.m. Thursday at Titus Funeral Home, Warsaw, with Pastor Glenn Hall, Harvest Community Church, Pierceton, officiating. Burial will be in Lakeview Cemetery, Silver Lake.
Calling is from 4 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
