He was born Oct. 21, 1918, in Wabash, to Clinton and Grace Miller Cooper. On Jan. 9, 1943, in Peru, he married Jane Keller, who died Dec. 29, 2005.
He was a 1936 graduate of Linlawn High School. He was a retired farmer. He was a life member of the Richvalley United Methodist Church, a member of Hanna Masonic Lodge, served 22 years on the Wabash County Council, served as the president of FISH board of directors, and was a longtime member of the board of directors of the First National Bank in Wabash. He helped establish the Noble Township Volunteer Fire Department, and served as a fireman several years.
Surviving are three children: Sue (and spouse Lee) Harman, Warsaw; Ruth “Toby” (and spouse Galen) Clark, Marion; Tim (and spouse Patty) Cooper, Wabash; eight grandchildren: Matt (and Lucy Bisognano) Harman, Seattle, Wash.; Alan (and spouse Diana) Clark, Syracuse; Beth (and spouse Derek) Willer, Dublin, Ohio; Amy (and spouse Aaron) Huesman Waynesville, Ohio; Shelby (and spouse Tim) Drake, Wabash; Monica (and spouse Eian) Savas, Brookings, Ore.; Craig (and Jean Lamont) Harman, Lewisburg, Pa.; Ben (and spouse Laura) Cooper, Columbia City; and an honorary grandchild, Jason (and spouse Stacey) Duell, Wilmington, Ohio, and 11 great-grandchildren.
He also was preceded in death by his parents, four brothers and one great-granddaughter.
Services are at 1 p.m. today at Grandstaff-Hentgen Funeral Service, 1241 Manchester Ave., Wabash, with Pastor Paul Burris officiating. Burial will be in Friends Cemetery, Wabash.
Calling was Sunday at the funeral home.
