One of the three men who robbed the McClure Gas Station in Silver Lake in April was sentenced Thursday in Kosciusko County Superior Court I.

Timothy Wayne Hackworth, 23, of 1207 W. Main St., North Manchester, pleaded guilty and was sentenced to four years in the Indiana Department of Corrections for his part in an April robbery near Silver Lake. The sentence is to run consecutively with any other sentences that should be handed down in other pending cases. As per his plea deal, the second count of theft was dismissed.

Kosciusko County Prosecuting Attorney Dan Hampton informed the Times-Union that Hackworth has four pending cases in Wabash, one for burglary, a Class B felony, two counts of auto theft, Class D felonies, and a probation violation. A Class B felony, if convicted, brings with it a possible sentence of six years to 20 years in prison. A Class D felony has a possible sentence of 1-1/2 to three years.

Hampton also informed the Times-Union that the two other co-defendants, Harrison Shepherd, 18, North Manchester, and Andrew Asbury, 19, North Manchester, have confessed, but have not been sentenced.

Shepherd has not begun his case in Kosciusko County because he is currently in the Wabash County Jail. Asbury has a pre-trial conference Sept. 27.

In the early morning hours of  April 19, the three defendants stole a Ford Mustang and a Chevy Camaro from the Manchester Sales and Service car lot in North Manchester. The defendants then drove the vehicles to the area near the McClure gas station in Silver Lake around 1:30 a.m. One of the defendants parked a vehicle a mile away and waited on the other two to come back.

The two left in the Ford Mustang, returned to the getaway vehicle location, and then fled into Wabash County in the Chevy Camaro. That vehicle was located later in the day near Laketon in Wabash County.[[In-content Ad]]
