Gary Frederick Black, 65, of 3177 N. Glenview Drive, Warsaw, died at 10:14 p.m. Jan. 27, 2009, in Goshen General Hospital.

He was born Feb. 22, 1943, in Kosciusko County, to Ralph and Thelma Knepper Black. On April 22, 1989, in Warsaw, he married Janice Koon Poling, who survives.

A lifetime Kosciusko County resident, he retired as a binder operator at R.R. Donnelley & Sons, Warsaw, after 41 years. He was a member of Warsaw Church of God. He loved bowling, golfing and gun shows. He was a big sports fan and was fond of Notre Dame and the N.Y. Yankees.

Also surviving are a daughter, Amy (and spouse Dennis) Badskey, Avilla; his mother, Thelma Black, Pierceton; two sons, Mark (and spouse Kay) Poling, and Steve (and spouse LuAnn) Poling, all of Warsaw; a stepdaughter, Angie (and spouse Erick) Bolt, Pierceton; seven grandchildren: Amie (and spouse Zach) Nelson; Amanda, Mark and Brice Poling, all of Warsaw; Kara (and spouse Bobby) Derbyshire, New Orleans, La.; and Hudson and Heather Badskey, both of Avilla; two great-grandchildren, Reed and Grady Nelson, both of Warsaw; and two brothers, Gale (and spouse Nancy) Black, Cromwell, and Glen Black, Leesburg. He was preceded in death by his father.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Warsaw Church of God with Pastor Jerry Yoder officiating. Burial will be in Oakwood Cemetery, Warsaw.

Calling is from 4 to 8 p.m. Friday at McHatton-Sadler Funeral Chapel, Warsaw.
