Edward E. and Beverly Garrett, Columbia City, and Mary A. Garrett, Warsaw, announce the engagement of their daughter, Jennifer R. Garrett, Fort Wayne, to Justin L. Smith, Fort Wayne. He is the son of Marvin and Sally Smith, Fort Wayne, and Nancy Smith, Berne.

The bride-to-be is employed by AWS, Fort Wayne. She is a 1993 graduate of Warsaw Community High School and graduated from Ivy Tech State College in 2005.

The groom-elect is an English teacher and wrestling coach at Wayne High School. He is a 1999 graduate of Homestead High School, Fort Wayne, and graduated from IPFW in 2003.

A June 9 wedding is planned.

Next weekend approaches the fifth anniversary of the end of Spring Break where Warsaw Community Schools, along with schools nationwide, determined all students should shelter in place for the remainder of the school year.
