Garnett Rose Whitaker-Hollon, 63, Claypool, passed away at 1:40 p.m. April 29, 2015, in Parkview Regional Medical Center, Fort Wayne.
She was born July 22, 1951, in Lancer, Ky., to Henry and Ival Akers Whitaker. On Jan. 12, 2010, in Claypool, she married James Hollon, who survives in Claypool.
She moved to Pierceton from Lancer in 1962. She worked for Explorer Van, Warsaw, for 23 years as a fiberglass mold maker. She then worked for Carson’s Department Store, Warsaw, until retiring in 2013.
She was a member of American Legion Auxiliary, Pierceton, and Moose Lodge. She lived for Sundays, going to movies and shopping with her friends.
Also surviving are four sons: Charlie Shepherd, Atwood; Shawn Shepherd, Warsaw; Chad Shepherd, Indianapolis; and Rodney Shepherd, Claypool; two brothers, Bert Whitaker (and friend Dorothy Murray), Waterloo, and Michael Whitaker, Warsaw; two sisters, Claudia Barton, Pierceton, and Arlene (and spouse Jim) Barton, Dowagiac, Mich.; and 11 grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents and her sister, Linda Adams.
Services will be at 1 p.m. Monday at McHatton-Sadler Funeral Chapel, Pierceton, with Pastor Carl Hughes officiating. Burial is in Hillcrest Cemetery, Pierceton.
Calling is from 2 to 6 p.m. Sunday at the funeral chapel.
