They were married Feb. 21, 1941, in Byrdstown, Tenn.
They are both retired school teachers and have resided in Huntington; Roanoke, Ill.; and Winona Lake.
The event was hosted by the couple’s three children, Pamela (and spouse James) Thompson, Paula (and spouse Robert) Shively and Victor (and spouse Jo) Gamble; six grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.
More than 50 guests, nieces and nephews of the couple, attended the event. Among the guests were Pastor Richard (and spouse Jenna) Strick of St. Peter’s First Community Church, of which the Gambles are members.
In lieu of gifts guests were asked to bring a written memory about the couple along with a family picture. A scrapbook will be assembled to commemorate the event.
At the conclusion of the celebration a dinner was enjoyed by the couple, their children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Prior to the celebration a private family anniversary dinner was at the home of Victor and Jo Gamble, Mentone, Feb. 19.
