Galloway Seeking Third District Congressional Seat

Stutzman announced Saturday he is seeking the Senate seat currently held by Dan Coats, who is not seeking re-election.
Jim Banks, State Senator District 17, was scheduled to announce today he also is seeking the third district congressional seat. Banks has served in the Indiana Senate since 2010.
He returned to Indiana in April from an eight-month deployment to Afghanistan as a member of the Navy Reserve.
Galloway is a retired physician and former state legislator.
As a surgeon who cared for breast cancer patients, she developed a skill for compassionate listening and precise treatment, according to her press release. She hopes to take the same approach with her constituents, taking time to find out what Indiana’s third district wants and needs and then bringing those issues to Congress.
“My husband and I have a deep respect for our hardworking neighbors,” Galloway said. “I’m committed to fighting for the issues that affect our region. Right now, I want to listen. Tell me what’s weighing on your mind and I’ll give your values a voice in Washington.”
As a member of the Wisconsin State Senate, Galloway worked with Gov. Scott Walker to pass reforms. She earned support and admiration as an advocate for taxpayers and a defender of constitutional rights, her press release states.
Galloway’s family-first beliefs led to her departure from the Wisconsin State Senate in 2012. Faced with the sudden, severe illness of several family members, she and her husband moved to Indiana to be closer to their families.
“I stepped out of politics to help care for my family, but the decision was a difficult one,” Galloway said. “I fell in love with Indiana right away. Now that things have settled four our family, I want to be an advocate for the third district.”
In 2014, Galloway chaired the campaign to elect Rep. Curt Nisly, R-Goshen, to District 22 of the Indiana House of Representatives.
Galloway is a graduate of University of Chicago and the Medical College of Virginia. She is a certified National Rifle Association instructor in basic pistol. She resides in Kosciusko County with her husband, Dr. Chris Magiera, a fourth-generation native Hoosier.
