Fun Fest To Feature Professional Magician

NORTH WEBSTER - Looking for an evening of fun and a cheap dinner? The North Webster Community Center will sponsor the Community Fun Fest Saturday at the NWCC, 301 N. Main St., North Webster.

The evening begins at 4 p.m. with an all-you-can-eat spaghetti dinner, which ends at 7 p.m.

Tickets for the dinner now are on sale at the NWCC office for $6 for adults, $3 for children 3-12 years of age and free to those under the age of 3.

Tickets also will be available at the door that evening.

In addition to the spaghetti dinner, there will be a free magic show featuring Professional Magician Dick Stoner, Fort Wayne, which begins at 7:30 p.m.

All proceeds from the dinner will be donated back to the North Webster Community Center to offset the ongoing $200,000 annual operating expenses of the budget. The general public is invited to attend.

The North Webster Community Center, a not-for-profit corporation, was established in 2002 to restore and preserve the former elementary school for the community. Today, the NWCC has become a home and a rallying point for the Kosciusko Community YMCA, North Webster Community Public Library, Senior Primelife Enrichment Center and the North Webster Tippecanoe Township Chamber of Commerce. In addition to these year-round tenants, the NWCC board hosts art classes, weddings, large fundraising events, Mermaid Festival pageants, election polls, health screenings, class reunions and countless Boy Scout, Girl Scout, lake association, town council, service club and support group meetings.

For more information on this event or other activities at the center, contact the NWCC office at 574-834-1600 or via e-mail at [email protected]

Kids Night Out at the YMCA

The Kosciusko Community YMCA will host a Kids Night Out Friday beginning at 7 p.m. The evening is an opportunity for kids to have fun with crafts, games, rock climbing, swimming, movies, and pizza. Teresa Dittmar, childcare coordinator at the YMCA says, "Kids Night Out is a great opportunity for parents to have some time alone knowing that their children are in a safe, secure, and fun environment."

Trazer competitions also will take place. The newest addition to the YMCA, the Cybex Trazer, is a virtual reality game based on action and movement. Instead of a video game played sitting on the couch, the player takes an active role in this game. Acceleration, speed, power and balance drive on-screen activities.

All children in kindergarten through the sixth grade are welcome to attend with the option to spend the night. Each child should come prepared with a sleeping bag, pillow, towel and swimsuit. Pick up is 7 a.m. the following Saturday morning. Parents with children choosing not to spend the night can set up a pre-arranged pick up time.

Registration has begun at any one of the three Kosciusko Community YMCA locations. For more information contact Teresa Dittmar at 574-269-9622.

The Kosciusko Community YMCA, a not-for-profit organization, provides community based programs that put Christian principles into practice to build healthy spirit, mind and body for the youth, teens, adults and seniors of Kosciusko County. Through facilities in Warsaw and North Webster the YMCA helps build strong kids, strong families and strong communities. The Kosciusko Community YMCA does not deny any youth, adult, or family membership or participation based on their inability to pay. Financial assistance is available.
