Fribley Field will soon have a new concession stand and restrooms.

A groundbreaking ceremony was held Thursday for the new building being built at Fribley Field, East Market Street, Warsaw.

The cost of the project is $130,000.

The project will be a 1-1/2 story building with three stall restrooms each for men and women with handicapped accessibility. The previous concession stand had restroom facilities half a block away.

"Because of many elderly and small children coming to the games, Young Tigers felt there was a need for closer handicapped restroom facilities along with a larger and up-to-date concession stand," said Carl Sowers, Young Tiger Football.

On the other side of the building will be a concession stand with a popcorn machine, hot dog warmer and pop will be in refrigerators supplied by a soda company.

The building will have a counter space with cabinets and a sink. An announcer table and score board controls will be located in the upper level of the building.

It will be a block building with some antique white vinyl siding.

Work started Aug. 21 by removing the existing building, which was donated to the City-County Athletic Complex.

The goal is for the project to be finished in November and ready to use for the 2008 season, according to Sowers.

The Warsaw City Council approved at its Aug. 20 meeting the city donating $5,000 toward the project.

The project also has been paid for by businesses and individual donations and grants.

Several contractors will work on the project, including Kuert Concrete, Butt and Timmons Construction Inc., New Plumbing & Heating, Heiman Construction, G & G Excavating, Camden Construction, Warsaw Parks Department, Construction Services of Indiana, Camden Construction and Indiana Water Co.

There will be a banner of the businesses and individuals who contributed financially toward the project located by the building.

The Warsaw Park Department will provide maintenance to the building.
