Freezing rain weighed heavy on power lines Friday night, causing scattered power outages throughout Kosciusko County.

REMC crews were out working to restore power, a large portion of which occurred in the Leesburg area, after a storm moved into the area early Friday evening. In at least one instance, ice accumulated on a tree, causing it to fall and taking power lines with it.

The Kosciusko County Sheriff's Department reported that increasing accidents calls were beginning to come in about 11 p.m., with the roadways considered slick and hazardous.

However, no event cancellations for today were reported by midnight. Choir members from several local schools are scheduled to travel to Fort Wayne this morning to perform in the annual FAME Festival. Concerned parents were watching the weather last night and should tune into WRSW-AM and FM for information from school officials in the event plans change. [[In-content Ad]]
