DUNKIRK – Frederick W. Beeson, 85, of Dunkirk, died Aug. 22, 2012, while at his much-loved vacation home at McGregor Bay, Ontario, Canada.

He was born Feb. 25, 1927, in Losantville, to Charles D. Sr. and Gladys Beeson. On Aug. 29, 1958, he married Ann Marie Sorensen, who survives.

He was a World War II veteran. His graduate and post graduate degrees were completed at Ball State Teachers College. He taught at Jefferson Township School near Geneva, Madison Heights High School and West Jay Junior High School where he retired in 1987.

He and Anne Marie lived in Dunkirk their entire marriage. An adventurer, he owned and piloted a Cessna 140 airplane, was a skydiver, motorcycle enthusiast and bicyclist. He loved nature and thoroughly enjoyed the past 50-plus summers at McGregor Bay on Lake Huron.

Also surviving are a daughter, Lora, Bourbon; a son, Bruce (and spouse Kim) Beeson, Muncie; a special family friend, Karen Maurer, Bourbon; an aunt, Mildred Thornburg, Richmond; a brother-in-law, Peter (and spouse Kathy) Sorensen, Fort Wayne; and many special nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; a sister, Betty Hinshaw; a brother, Charles D. Beeson Jr.; and a sister-in-law, Polly Beeson.

A celebration of life will be at 3 p.m. Sept. 8 at West Jay Community Center, Dunkirk.
