Frederick David “Fred” Lukens, 88, passed away at 12:25 a.m. March 9, 2015, at Miller’s Merry Manor, Warsaw.
He was born Aug. 7, 1926, in Wabash, to Frank Russell and Hazel W. Kreiter Lukens. On May 2, 1952, in Warsaw, he married Geneva Correll, who died Sept. 29, 2007.
He received his GED through the U.S. Navy. He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy, serving in World War II. He was a life-long resident, and worked in service/installation for United Telephone Company for 40 years, retiring in 1991.
He had been a member of the Masonic Lodge, and he loved to fish.
Surviving are two sons, Scott (and spouse Lisa) Lukens, Pierceton, and Jon (and spouse Belinda) Lukens, Warsaw; a daughter, Valerie (and spouse Dave) Shull, Syracuse; eight grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and a brother-in-law, Roy Wilson, Texas. He also was preceded in death by three sisters: Lois Purdy, Alice Lukens and Frances Wilson.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Friday at Titus Funeral Home, 2000 E. Sheridan St., Warsaw. Burial is in Oakwood Cemetery, Warsaw, with military honors conducted by Warsaw’s American Legion Post #49 and VFW Post #1126.
Calling is from 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
