He was born Dec. 18, 1917, in Kosciusko County, to Henry and Frieda Lanz Ruch. On March 2, 1940, in Warsaw, he married Mabel V. Fancil, who survives in Winona Lake.
He lived in Milford as a young boy and lived in Warsaw after he was married. He was employed at Korth Furniture for a short time. He was employed at Arnolt Corp. for 27 years, working up to plant manager. He also worked a Whitley Products for a short time and retired from Da-Lite Screen after 12 years. He was a member of the Star Twirler Trailers Square Dancing and Airstream Club. He restored furniture, rebuilt engines, repaired cars (loved Volkswagens), tool and die in his home shop, and was an avid fisherman who made his own flies and taught anyone to flyfish. He enjoyed square dancing and calling square dancing, camping, boating and music. He played the harmonica and numerous string instruments.
Also surviving are two sons, Larry (and wife Dianne) Ruch, Warsaw, and Glen Ruch, Warsaw; two sisters, Kathren Loncor, Goshen, and Wilma Burkey, Bristol; a brother, Elmer (and wife Fredonna) Ruch, Warsaw; four grandchildren: Rodney (and wife Jodi) Ruch, and Robin Davenport, both of Kokomo; Steve (and wife Carrie) Ruch, Mechanicsville, Va.; Mrs. Joe (Dawn) Morrison, Philadelphia, Pa.; and eight great-grandchildren: Taylor Ruch, Colan Ruch, Ryndee Ruch, Dalton Ruch, Frank Morrison, Josephine Morrison, Charles Morrison, and Zoie Davenport. He was preceded in death by a grandson, Danny Earl; two brothers, Walter and Robert Ruch; and two sisters, Lena Beer and Lea Frush.
Services will be at 1 p.m. Tuesday at McHatton-Sadler Funeral Chapel, Warsaw, with Pastor Nelson Beer officiating. Burial will be in Oakwood Cemetery, Warsaw.
Calling is from 8 to 10 a.m.Tuesday at the funeral home.
