INDIANAPOLIS – Frank L. Cooper Jr., 86, Indianapolis, passed away Sept. 9, 2011, in Jupiter, Fla.

He was born June 21, 1925, in Indianapolis, to Frank L. and Vadda Newman Cooper. He married Elizabeth Reel, who died in 1984.

He worked as an engineer with Alvord Oil and Mergraf Oil Co. for 22 years. He owned Cooper’s Tippecanoe Marina from 1972-79. He later worked at the Marina until his retirement. He graduated from Shortridge High School in 1943 and from the U.S. Merchant Marine Academy. He served as an officer on board merchant ships during World War II. He was member of the Millersville Masonic Temple, Scottish Rite, the Patrol at the Murat Shrine Club and the U.S. Merchant Marine Academy Alumni Association.

Surviving are daughter, Karen (and spouse Bill) Craft, Jupiter; two sons, Mark (and spouse Cheryl) Cooper, Fort Wayne, and Frank (and spouse Linda) Cooper, Indianapolis.

Services will be at noon Saturday at Tabernacle Presbyterian Church, 418 E. 34th Street.

Calling is from 10 a.m. until the time of the service Saturday at the church.

Flanner and Buchanan Funeral Center-Broad Ripple, Indianapolis, is in charge of arrangement.
