ARGOS – Frank Allen Harley, 68, Indiana Avenue, Argos, died at 10 a.m. Jan. 7, 2015, at his residence following a lengthy illness.
He was born Jan. 4, 1947, in Argos, to Walter L. and Anna Louise Reed Harley. On Dec. 24, 1976, in Argos, he married Georgia Ann Hill, who survives in Argos.
He had lived all of his life in the Argos community. He was a graduate of Argos High School, class of 1965. He worked in maintenance for the town of Argos, retiring in 2008.
He served in Company C, 2nd Battalion, 10th Infantry in the Fifth U.S. Army during the Vietnam War. Sgt. Frank Harley was honorably discharged May 6, 1968.
He was a member of the James Lowell Corey American Legion Post #68, Argos; and Finney-Shilling V.F.W. Post #6919 of Culver.
Also surviving are two sons, Brian and Brad Snyder, both of Argos; two grandchildren, Kirsten (and spouse Gary) Sibley and Brad A. Snyder II; one great-grandchild; two brothers, W. Lynn (and spouse Barbara) Harley, Argos, and John R. Harley, South Bend. He was preceded in death by his parents.
Services will be at 1 p.m. Saturday at the James Lowell Corey American Legion Post #68, 120 N. First St., Argos, with the Rev. Robert E. Rice Jr. officiating. The U.S. Army burial unit and the Argos American Legion Post #68 will perform military honors. Burial will take place at a later date.
Calling is from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Post.
