He was born May 3, 1924, in Managua, Nicaragua, to Palar and Leocadia Espino Obando.
He attended public schools in Nicaragua and was a construction contractor in Nicaragua most of his life. He was raised in the Catholic Church in Nicaragua and visited family in Syracuse often before staying in April 2016.
Surviving are six daughters: Margarita Miranda, Rosaura Obando, Alsira Zeledon, Janett Bladon, all of Nicaragua; Angela Obando, Costa Rica; Maria Elena Obando, Panama; three sons: Salvador Obando, Costa Rica; Gustavo Obando, Nicaragua; Erwin (and spouse Lisa) Obando, Syracuse; numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, step-grandchildren and step-great-grandchildren; two sisters, Nacha Obando and Rafaila Obando, both of Nicaragua; and a brother, Gilberto Obando, Nicaragua. He was preceded in death by his parents; a son, Reinaldo Obando; and a grandson, Jheovany Obando.
No public services will be held at this time. Private family burial will take place in Nicaragua at a later date. Cremation will take place at Cremation Services of Kosciusko County, Warsaw.
