Charges are pending against four people in connection with a Feb. 25 theft from the Winona Avenue Pizza King.
Charity M. Trusty, 19, of 482 Clinic Court, Warsaw, was working at the restaurant that night and told police she accidentally left the front door open while she was in the back room and, when she came out to get the money from the cash register, the register was missing.
A Warsaw Police Department investigation revealed that Trusty and two others allegedly planned the theft, and a fourth person accepted money from the theft. A total of $1,876.25 was reported missing from the business.
Trusty reportedly admitted to police that she lied to police and her aunt - the restaurant's manager - regarding the theft. Those involved reportedly used a portion of the proceeds to purchase drugs, according to a police report.
Charges of conversion are pending against Trusty; Joseph H. Cutler III, 18, of 111 N. Union St., Warsaw; Daniel M. Rosier, 26, of 1040-B E. Winona Ave., Warsaw; and David S. Chester, 33, of 482 Clinic Court, Warsaw.
Police said Trusty, Cutler and Rosier were all directly involved in the theft and Chester's involvement was limited to knowingly accepting funds from the theft.
The cash register was recovered from atop a frozen pond near Trusty's apartment a few days after the theft was reported. [[In-content Ad]]
