Arlene Foster will celebrate her 80th birthday July 4, 2011, surrounded by friends and family.

She was born July 4, 1931, in Chicago, Ill., to Arlie and Minnie Hartman. In 1955, she married Clarence Foster Jr., who died in 1995 after 40 years of marriage.

She worked at Hartman’s Bakery and Metro Glass, Dolton, Ill., and also at Owen’s Bakery, Warsaw.

She enjoys baking, spending time with her many grandchildren and great-grandchildren, and has recently taught herself to knit.

She has four children: Gregg Foster, Vicki Scott, and Brian Foster, all of Warsaw; and Julie Clark, Tennessee.
