Fort Wayne Man Pleads Guilty to Rape, Kidnapping, Robbery

COLUMBIA CITY – Henry Wright Jr., 25, Fort Wayne, pled guilty to rape, kidnapping and robbery in Whitley Circuit Court Monday.
He will be sentenced May 16 for the events which occurred in South Whitley and Columbia City in which a South Whitley woman was kidnapped.
The news came from Whitley County Prosecuting Attorney Matt Rentschler, who said, “This is a good resolution to the case. We are very pleased for the victim and her family that we were able to achieve this outcome.”
Wright and two others were arrested Dec. 16 and charged with abducting a South Whitley woman in her vehicle  after following her to town from Columbia City. Two of the men took control of her vehicle while the third man followed them in a separate car. She was driven back to Columbia City, sexually assaulted on the way and left outside the city, according to reports.
The woman’s debit card was used to remove money at an automatic transfer machine at STAR Financial Bank, 102 W. Van Buren St., Columbia City.
Wright was charged with rape, a level 1 felony; kidnapping, a level 2 felony; and robbery, a level 3 felony; Camara Jermaine Benson, 21, was charged with kidnapping and robbery; and Dennis L. Thomas, 43, with aiding in kidnapping, a level 2 felony. Updates on Benson and Thomas’ cases were unavailable at publication time.[[In-content Ad]]
