NORTH WEBSTER - North Webster police have apprehended the "polite" perpetrator responsible for burglarizing Stimmelator's Gentleman's Club Aug. 12, when he returned to the club Thursday night.

The man, Richard Allen Mitchell, 43, of Fort Wayne, was arrested at the bar after being identified by employees as the man who robbed the establishment at gunpoint nearly two weeks ago.

Mitchell was sitting at the bar when he was recognized as the robber. An employee called the police at 10:01 p.m. and the North Webster Police Department, assisted by Syracuse Police Department and Kosciusko County Sheriff's Department, entered the bar and saw the suspect.

An officer approached Mitchell and asked him to step outside. After leaving the building, Mitchell fled on foot before being apprehended. As he ran, Mitchell fell and dropped a handgun, which was recovered by police and discovered to be stolen from an Allen County residence.

Mitchell was arrested for fleeing law enforcement, a Class A misdemeanor; armed robbery, a Class B felony, and receiving stolen property, a Class D felony. As of Friday, he was refusing to talk to police. [[In-content Ad]]
