Fort Wayne Firm Gets County Furniture Bid

Infusion, Fort Wayne, will supply the Kosciusko County Justice Building with new furniture for a bid of $235,809.
The Kosciusko County Commissioners awarded the bid to them at Tuesday's meeting based on the recommendation from county administrator Ron Robinson.
Bids were opened two weeks ago and other bids included: Executive Office Products Inc., $245,000; Business Furnishings, $235,874; NBS Office Supplies, $241,449; and PBI, $236,962.42.
Robinson said all the bids were close but Infusion's was the lowest.
The county will bid out for more furniture later. "This is just the first phase," said Robinson. "There'll be a second phase."
In another matter, Kosciusko County Highway Department Superintendent and Engineer Rob Ladson presented the commissioners with a proposed list of people to serve on the Western Route (formerly known as the CR 350W) project steering committee.
Proposed members include: Jim Moyer and Chris Garza, local citizens; Grant McGuire of R.R. Donnelley & Sons and a representative of Zimmer yet to be named to represent local industry; Mike Lewis of Lewis Salvage and Cary Groninger of G&G Hauling & Excavating Inc. to represent Warsaw businesses; a representative of the Chamber of Commerce; Della Swain to represent Warsaw Community Schools; county commissioner Ron Truex; county councilman Larry Teghtmeyer; county area plan commission director Dan Richard; Warsaw City Councilwoman Trish Brown; Warsaw City Planner Jeff Noffsinger; county sheriff Aaron Rovenstine; Warsaw fire chief; and a representative from the Fort Wayne district of the Indiana Department of Transportation.
A letter will be sent to each proposed member inviting them to serve on the committee.
In other business, the county commissioners:
• Approved a request by Maurice D. and Vicki J. Campbell to vacate a portion of a small park area platted into the Backwater Garden Subdivision. The property is off Backwater Road, 400 feet west and 100 feet south of the public launching site.
• Were told by Rovenstine the U.S. Justice Department approved a grant request for $23,048 for mobile data equipment in the sheriff's department squad cars. Kosciusko County's share is $7,682. The commissioners approved Rovenstine to continue the grant process to receive the funds.
• Approved the service agreements with the county nonprofit agencies for 2002.
• Approved the lease agreement for 2002 with the Kosciusko County Animal Welfare League.
• Approved an ordinance delegating authority to the election board to establish precinct boundaries.
• Approved their 2002 meeting schedule.
• Approved the county Christmas party for Dec. 18.
• Approved an ordinance temporarily reducing the speed limits on CR 450W to 45 mph.
• Opened the annual bids for county highway signs, material and equipment.
