Pictured (L to R) are Judy Reneker Burd and Carol Forbes, 2012 Bill Reneker Community Service Award recipient. Forbes received the award during the annual Winona Lake Community Dinner at Westminister Hall Thursday night. The award honors Bill Reneker, former Winona Lake town council president, who died in 1993. Judy presents the award each year in honor of her late husband. The award is to recognize an individual who makes a contribution to the betterment of Winona Lake. During her 40 years-plus in Winona Lake, she developed a deep love for Winona and its history. She is an avid reader of everything Winona. She enjoys meeting and visiting guests of the Winona Lake Museum of History, giving tours and talking to anyone who will listen about Winona. In addition to her involvement at the museum, she also volunteers at Grace Village Retirement Community where she visits residents, plays the piano in Assisted Living and assists the staff at various meal times and social occasions. She is also a 'crafty' lady who volunteers in developing ideas and constructing table and other decorations for social events. In addition to her involvement with the Museum and Grace Village, she is a valuable asset to the Winona Lake Senior Center. She has helped spear-head several service projects that have sent hand-crafted items all over the world. Also during the dinner, Home Improvement winners were presented to Dan and Carol Miles, 1202 Park Avenue; Jay and Lori Widman, 1504 Chestnut St. and Heinz and Gerhard Fussle, 301 Auditorium Blvd.[[In-content Ad]]
