FOP Plans Outing To Fund Scholarships

July 28, 2016 at 4:25 p.m.

Kosciusko County Fraternal Order of Police Lodge 149 will host its sixth annual golf outing to support three scholarships named in memory of three county police officers who died in the line of duty.
The June 11 outing will be held at Rozella Ford Golf Course, 1700 Rozella Road, Warsaw, with proceeds going to support three $500 scholarships to be awarded to area students planning to pursue careers in public service or law enforcement. The scholarships are each in memory of fallen Kosciusko County Sheriff’s Department officers Jeffrey Shaw and Phillip Hochstetler, and Indiana State Police trooper Jason Beal.
In addition to raising awareness and honor for those policemen, as well as to raise funds for the scholarships, the outing is an opportunity for local police to mingle with the common public.
“Hopefully, we’ll have a nice day and help some kids in the community,” said Kosciusko County Sheriff’s Department Cpl. Mike Mulligan, vice president of the Fraternal Order of Police. “It’s a good chance for the public to interact with law enforcement, play some golf and eat some food.”
Mulligan said he hopes to have at least 15 teams of four play in the scramble outing.
Local businesses are encouraged to sponsor the outing, Mulligan said.
For more information on the outing, to sponsor or register, or to nominate a scholarship candidate, call Mulligan at 574-377-0070.[[In-content Ad]]
